He is a competing member of the Bushmills Irish Pipers Pipe Band of San Francisco's Grade 3 band as well as the instructor for the first ever school-sponsored piping program in the state of Alabama at the Evangel Classical Christian School in Alabaster.
Ryan was featured in an HBO documentary about the deadly MacDonald Chapel tornado of 1998 and can be heard piping in a local television advertisement for the Ross Bridge Golf Resort recorded by Airwave Recording Studios. He is also featured playing bagpipes on albums with professional recording artist Jeff Sauceda and Celtic Harpist Cynthia Lynn Douglass. Ryan was recently recognized by the Alabama Celtic Association and awarded an ACA Honors Award in recognition of his commitment to the Celtic cultural arts in Alabama. Praise from friends and clients ...
We had not attended the Caledonian Dinner for several years until last night and I must say that the music there performed by you and the Heritage Pipes & Drums was wonderful. As an observer of the solo tunes that you played, I can only say that it was to me quite pleasing, and you have made great progress. The selections that you played solo stole the show. We were bowled over by them. Have you ever looked into a recording of tunes such as these? If not, you really must consider it. I for one would be proud to have it in my collection. At any rate, thanks for the experience. It was greatly appreciated and I look forward to any future recital.
